Friendsgiving

Friends are the family that we get to choose & there’s no better time to celebrate these relationships than Friendsgiving. This “new holiday” has quickly emerged because who would argue with two turkey days & an excuse to get glam with your girlfriends? Essentially, when it comes to Friendsgiving- forgo the customary. The only rule? There are no rules!

Stella Ivy is here to make sure your day is as [fashionably] fulfilling as the savory turkey and sides you’re about to enjoy with your squad! Praise the Lord & pass the pumpkin pie!

            Plan the Menu

Turkey is obviously top priority when it comes to Friendsgiving menu planning! For all of you domestically challenged divas (& even sassy seasoned chefs), DO NOT attempt to cook your first turkey on the day of your celebration! There’s a strong chance this will end in disaster! :) [see the turkey carving scene in Christmas Vacation]

Not much on cooking? There is hope! Ham is an awesome alternative to its tasty turkey counterpart, & so much easier to cook! Overwhelmed? Hunny, go to Honey Baked Ham! No one ever has to know that you didn't cook it.

            Sweet & Savory Ham

            bone-in spiral sliced pre-cooked ham
            2 cups white granulated sugar
            1 teaspoon onion powder
            1 teaspoon cinnamon
            1 teaspoon nutmeg
            1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
            1/2 teaspoon ground clove
            1/2 teaspoon paprika
            2 to 4 Tablespoons water

Score outside of ham into diamond shapes and place in crock-pot. Add about 2 cups of water to bottom of pot. Heat on low for about 3 hours until heated through.

Combine the rest of the ingredients in a sauce pan. Add enough water until you get a thick syrup (about 2 to 4 Tablespoons). Bring the syrup to a boil on the stove top. Boil for 1 minute.  Remove from heat.

Remove ham from crock-pot and place in a foil lined baking pan. Baste ham with syrup. Place ham in oven and broil at 500° for 1 to 3 minutes until syrup starts to bubble. Keep an eye on the ham while it is in the oven.
